I was approached by a lady during my lunch hour today. She claimed to be a volunteer seeking for donations or raising fund for a charity house that takes care of mentally disabled children. She asked for my permission to sit with me and explained to me her objectives and some basic history of the center. Mentioning that they required a huge fund to operate and maintaining the center. Being aware of fraud cases, I insist that I will only contribute if it is proven legit.
Because as far as I'm concerned, people cannot publicly seek for donation from the public without a proper licence/permit from the police/authorities. That is what we did last time when we are raising funds as scouts by offering service to the public.
Anyhow, she did gave me the contact method and address for the center. Anyone who wished to contribute, may try and contact the number below.
Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Malaysia
118, Jalan Gasing, 46000, Petaling Jaya, Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 03-7960 8003
She said that it is located beside the main road, nearby Hospital Universiti. She also mentioned that they are trying to make as much publicity as they can so that the public aware of their existence and therefore increase the chances of public contribution. As an individual, this is what I can do for, as well as making a donation, if I'm able to find it legit.
Thanks to some of the comments below. Hope everyone can help them in any way you may.

i found all the around internet and yellow page, still couldn't find any result regarding the house.
I think this mostly a scam!
thanks Kelvin for your feedback.
I do notice some incoming search queries about this center. Looks like they are still active even after few months since i last encounter.
Not sure if it's a scam yet as I have yet to visit the center myself. Mind to share which are you were when you were approach?
today jz kena ni~
I was also approached by a teenager asking for donation showing the laminated pages of the above,\. Is it true. Is the house existing

They went as far as Kuching, Sarawak for donations. Was just approached today so I immediately tried to look them up on the internet. I'm a huge skeptic. I'd rather donate to an account number or to the centre itself than to individuals going around malls.
baru kene tadi....bengkek sbb that teen insist nk tahu bila i nak derma...nmpk sgt desperate...tau takut bila i nk amek gmbr kad keje dia n ic dia...
We also experienced the same. This guy approached us when we were having our lunch in Mid Valley last weekend.
He claimed that he is one of the volunteers seeking for fundraising to help Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Terencat Akal Malaysia located at Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya.
We asked him to give us the website or bank account for us to verify and credit the fund via online as it will be much more appropriate instead of donating the cash money.
He gave us the following information:
CIMB Bank Account: 12650001448050
We wanted to donate but after reading the comments here, a bit reluctant as it might be a scam.
Please enlighten if you know the truth about this.
well, if they are able to provide a bank account. We can always verify whether it is legit. I won't say it's a scam but just need to be alert.
Just encountered this at Mc Donalds Mid Valley right opposite of the Cinema. A young chinese man which i belive around in his early 20's or late teen's along with a chinese lady in her early 30's.
I manage to get the address down. Not sure it is a scam or if it's true.
I want to share my encounter on this until yesterday. Some months ago, I was approached by a young college student in Melaka. Similarly, he told me about this NGO and provided details. I was sceptical and told him that I will personally visit this place myself. Yesterday, I took the time to visit and found the place. It's REAL! There are a total of 27 mentally challenged kids in the centre. It is an NGO run by a man whose kid was similarly challenged but did not survive. This guy mentioned that college students do this as a project..which makes sense. Please do visit this place and assess by yourself. I believe they really need help from us.
thank you for your valuable input chew.
I just meet them right now.the kids asking for donation. As I refuse and will visit them directly. I believe they might real. But I think they will take comm too. So rather I donate direct.
Hi,
Please be informed this center is exist. They just established 1.5 years, we have paid them a visit on last saturday. They need public to give them support, if everyone give a small contribution then would be able to ease their burden and kindly feel free to visit the center and spend time with the children. Thank you!
Approached by a lady named Sylvia Ang at Mcdonalds, Kota Kemuning. Showed us her name tag, laminated papers, asking us to donate.
